ISLAMABAD, November 29(APP): Parliamentary Secretary on Health Dr Nausheen Hamid Thursday said that policy should be formulate to eradicate the issue of malnutrition is need of the hour and current government is committed to this cause.
She expressed these while addressing a health seminar with the theme “the future of nutrition in Pakistan “organized by Action Against Hunger, an international non-governmental organization working in more 50 countries to help children and women suffering from malnutrition, the Parliamentary Secretary said that government is working in collaboration with provincial governments to address the issue and well-thought-out plans are being devised for long-term solution to this issue
She said “Malnutrition is one of the major challenges that Pakistan is going through 48% of children are suffered by malnutrition which results in lass year in addition to burden on national economy Government and well as international community should come together for this great cause” .
Speaking on the occasion Country director of Action against Hunger (ACH) Ms Jennifer Ankram said that ACF is helping malnourished children and women in almost fifty countries and it is ready to extend its international expertise in Pakistan. She said that Action against Hunger wants to localize international best practices in Pakistan
Deputy Country Director of ACF Mr. Muhammad Aamir said that ACF not provides treatment to malnourished crildren and women rather it also works to eradicate the root- causes of malnutrition Actress model and singer Member (Food Security & Climate) cf Planning Commission Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan said that a comprehensive policy to acdress the issue of food insecurity and mainutrition is being devised ard the government is committed to utilizing all available resources for this purpose.
